Mandala Art Workshops

I offer several different workshops in which the participants get to create their own personal mandalas that provide both creative expression, artistic development, and spiritual growth, all within a nurturing  environment. The mandala can be used as a visual focus for meditation, and can also be very effective in art therapy.

The process for all workshops involves a simple beginning meditation, breathing, and warming up exercise, with carefully selected music being played throughout the whole session. The music is an integral part of the mandala making workshop, and acts as a visualization tool. Demonstrations will be given on various relating techniques throughout the workshops. There is a choice of three workshops using different art mediums and techniques...

  • Pastel Mandalas: This workshop is for all age groups, and uses non-oil pastels, which are the purist of all art mediums. They are very direct and spontaneous to use, blend easily, and need no drying time.

  • Watercolor Mandalas: Similar to the pastel workshop, but using watercolors. The translucency and vibrance of watercolor lends itself well to Mandala art.

  • Mixed Media: This workshop combines both pastel and watercolor to produce a very exciting and unique art medium that has many creative mandala possibilities.

I have taught drawing, painting and photography to all age groups for over twenty years, in both Universities, schools, museums and hospitals. I have also been involved in art therapy through the "Arts in Mental Health Program" for ten years.

Participants will need to bring their own art supplies. A list of materials, and recommend places to buy them is available to all participants. The 6 hour work  shops normally run from 10am to 4pm, with one hour for lunch. Fee $ 95 per student, with a limit of 10 students per class. The 2 hour workshops are normally from 10am to 12pm, or 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Fee $40 per student, with a limit to 12 students.
